  • Detach from Computer for Deep Work

Detach from Computer for Deep Work

Life away from Computer is where Deep Work starts

As mentioned by Cal Newport in his book, deep work is becoming increasingly valuable in the new economy. For me life without computer helps me detach from computer for deep work.

In his hypothesis, Cal Newport says that all of those who inculcate the ability to work for extended period of time with intense focus will become valuable by the day in this new economy.

This needs a life without social media and use of any form of electronic gadget that takes away our focus from things that matter. The below interesting insight inspired from the same book of Cal Newport elaborates on the same.

  • Four Psychological Assets of Grit

    Four Psychological Assets of Grit

Which are the four psychological assets of Grit?

In her book Angela Duckworth has highlighted four psychological assets that are key to grit. The journey to greatness is incomplete without these components.

    1. Interest -> A certain amount of interest is needed to pick up a skill. This typically develops at an early age
    2. Practice -> Once interest develops, deliberate practice needs to kick in to perfect the skill and take it to the next level. Putting in the hours by moving out of comfort zone is what counts.
    3. Purpose -> No great deed can be achieved without an overarching purpose or a calling. The skill that has been developed through interest and practice makes us realize this calling.
    4. Hope -> Faith in god or optimism that the future is bright keeps us going even when the chips are down.

These components make up a truly gritty champion who eventually makes it big in life as elaborated in the below insight.
