“Physiological” vs “Social” Needs – modern day changing equation

Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs put Physiological needs as the basic survival needs for humans.

Right towards the top of the pyramid sit the social and self actualization needs.

Keeping in mind the modern day cases of depression due to loneliness and lack of a sense of “belonging” , the “social” need has now become as important as “physiological” need for survival of humans.

This is why Maslow’s framework may need revision in the modern day , as mentioned by David Rock in his book “Your Brain At Work”.
