  • For your ORGANIZATION, have your FOUND your JUST CAUSE yet?High time you found one..

Adopted from the following great insight shared by Simon Sinek from his book The Infinite Game

A “Just Cause” is defined as the futuristic vision aimed towards engaging employees of an organization for achievement of fulfillment in their lives. This is solely driven by the sense of meaning in the vision that makes monetary short term benefits insignificant to an employee of an organization.

Needlessly to say taking baby steps towards that vision gives us a sense of fulfillment. This is why the company mission and vision statements should be oriented more towards alignment with a “Just Cause” rather than benefits which can be felt only in the short term.

All great organizations orient their vision and mission statements keeping the long term perspective in mind.

  • As a LEADER are you aware how “Existential Flex” TEACHES you to ADAPT BETTER ?Learn it the Steve Jobs way..

Adopted from the following great insight shared by Simon Sinek from his book The Infinite Game

When Steve Jobs and his team at Apple visited Xerox PARC , Palo Alto CA in 1979 they were introduced to the new GUI based concept.

Though Apple had made significant investments in command based interface for its Apple PCs , being an infinite minded leader he exercised “Existential Flex” and decided to adopt GUI for its Macintosh to be released in the next 4 years.

Needless to say he faced quite a lot of resistance from his own employees who were not comfortable with disruption.

The fact that the risk paid off is ample testimony to the fact that an infinite minded leader can preempt disruption in enabling an organization to reach great heights in an infinite game.

  • As a LEADER are you looking for a MASTERCLASS on INFINITE MINDEDNESS?CVS Caremark is your point of reference..

Adopted from the following great insight shared by Simon Sinek from his book The Infinite Game

CVS Caremark in Feb 2014 , declared that it would stop selling cigarettes in all its stores. This was in line with the broader health care commitment it had embarked on.

For many Wall street pundits this seemed a suicidal move  that would cost it revenues to the tune of billions of dollars.

But what transpired was magical. All those who predicted that cigarette sales from CVS would shift to other local stores were taken by surprise.

The move by the infinite minded player CVS had a lasting impact on the population who started reducing cigarette consumption and hence instead of shift in revenue due to sale of cigarettes the cigarette consumption itself drastically reduced.

After a initial setback due to fall in share prices , as a result of this move , the share prices of CVS recovered since this was taken in a very positive manner by the employees and population in general.

In line with its infinite minded vision CVS Caremark changed its named to CVS Health in Sep 2014.

This proves beyond doubt that an infinite minded vision is always for the long run and the risk taken proves its worth in the long run.

  • As a LEADER are you CONFUSED on which to prioritise, PERFORMANCE or TRUST?This should CONVINCE you..

Adopted from Simon Sinek’s book titled “The Infinite Game”.

Whereas performance relates to IQ(Intelligence Quotient) , trust relates to EQ(Emotional Quotient)

Performance is given more value by finite minded leaders who put numbers ahead of people.

Trust is given more value by infinite minded leaders who are willing to take the risks to form trusting teams.

In the modern day workplace there is an increasing emphasis being given to trust since performance can be taught whereas trust is more human in nature.

  • Do you WANT to UNDERSTAND the DNA of an INNOVATIVE WORKPLACE?This is the ANSWER you are looking for..

  • As a LEADER are you DRIVEN by a SENSE of PURPOSE?This is WHY you should..

Adopted from the following great insight shared by Simon Sinek from his book Together is Better

Our human brain is oriented to feel comfortable given a sense of purpose and direction.

Truly great leaders know this scientific fact and hence to lead a “trusting team” they show their team a sense of purpose.

Once our brain understands about a specific purpose and direction , it is creative enough to devise innovative means to reach the destination overcoming obstacles that can come in the way.

The sense of purpose and direction provided separates great leaders from the ordinary “placeholder” leaders.

  • How many of you REMEMBER the ALARM CLOCK named “CLOCKY”?This is why it was so SUCCESSFUL..

Adopted from the following great insight shared by Chip and Dan Heath from Switch..

Gauri Nanda from MIT had designed a unique alarm clock with wheels named “Clocky”.

This clock was meant to start moving across the room using the wheels instead of giving the provision to “snooze”.

As a result of this the clock gave no chance to the user to neglect the alarm.

What a great invention to tame the “elephant” limbic brain.

  • As a LEADER, WILL or RESOURCES which do you find EASIER to CONTROL?

Adopted from the following great insight shared by Simon Sinek from his book The Infinite Game

In an infinite game of business “will” relates to human metrices for e.g inspiration , motivation , trust etc.

Whereas “resources” refer to profit , revenues etc.

Needlessly to say “resources” depend on external factors like customers , shareholders and are not in the control of a leader.

What is internal to an organization and can be controlled as well as nurtured is “will” of employees to drive revenues.

This is exactly what an infinite ninded leader does as very aptly mentioned by Simon Sinek in “The Infinite Game”

  • Are you a Gen Y Millenial? This is why you should be MINDFUL of INSTANT GRATIFICATION..

Adopted from the following great insight shared by Simon Sinek

Modern day instant gratification seems very luring for a Gen X millennial.

In the past ordering a gift and physically receiving it used to take time.Nowadays order something from Amazon and you immediately receive the product.

For watching a blockbuster movie one had to wait for a long while.Nowadays Netflix , youtube.com enable instant gratification.

Even for that matter making friends is so easy courtesy social media e.g. Facebook.

Though instant gratification is something the human race is proud about , this has given rise to a bunch of side effects which are indeed very harmful.

Not getting something instantly can lead to depression , anger and hence the number of suicidal cases , mental ill health cases are on the rise for a modern day millennial.

Though often overlooked , is a serious topic to reflect on.
