  • Why should you BLOG?

    Why should you BLOG?

    The importance of blogging regularly

    Have you ever wondered, why should you blog? In this post I will take a cue from Seth Godin’s take on the same topic and highlight why you should do it regularly.

    Seth Godin encourages readers to ship out content regularly. According to him blogging and hence shipping our content regularly helps us overcome the resistance of the limbic brain.

    This would silence self doubt and encourage us to become gritty via deliberate practice.

    Once we break the shackles and ship regularly, we would continually improve and eventually reach a state of flow.

    Our purpose of enlightening the world via the content of blogs will eventually become real.

  • Confident Humility Meaning

    Confident Humility Meaning

    What is the meaning of Confident Humility?

    Confident humility meaning and its understanding stems from finding the right balance between competence and confidence.

    One one end of the spectrum is Armchair Quarter Back syndrome wherein confidence exceeds competence. This is when we show off more than our credentials.

    On the other side of the spectrum though is Impostor Syndrome wherein competence exceeds confidence and we feel diffident to show off our justly earned skills.

    The ideal zone is to strike a balance between the two as shown in this insight, inspired from Adam Grant’s book Think Again.

    Thus mixing the right amount of humility with confidence leads to most optimal results.

    Adopt SMAC recipe for success

    There have been different gurus and books who have advised on various methods to attain success. There is none better than Jim Collins’s SMAC recipe for success which is not only practical but finds relevance in the modern era as well.

    A SMaC (Specific, Methodical and Consistent) recipe is a set of “durable operating practices that create a replicable and consistent success formula”. It is clear and concrete without fluff, precise in guiding an enterprise on what to do (and what not to do) while reflecting the outcomes of empirical validation and insight.

    SMAC recipe for success

    In his book Great by Choice the author Jim Collins shows how iconic companies like South West Airlines have applied these principles for long lasting success.

    Listed below are some of Howard Putnam’s points followed at Southwest Airlines adhering to SMaC principle for lasting success:

    – Remain a short-haul carrier, under two-hour segments;
    – Utilize the 737 as our primary aircraft for ten to twelve years;
    – Stay out of food services

    Thus adopting this recipe in our lives can guarantee long term success.

  • Fear of Rejection Demystified

    Fear of Rejection Demystified

    Demystifying the Fear of Rejection

    In this blog post the fear of rejection which comes naturally to human beings, has been demystified. This post has been inspired from Steven Pressfield’s book The War of Art.

    This is a commonly associated fear with many human beings. This happens mainly due to the intense arousal of our limbic brain which is responsible for resistance.

    Right from the caveman times our brains are programmed for this feeling of resistance.

    Hence to break the fear we need to face fear eye to eye.

    This would help overcome the innate resistance of our limbic brain as mentioned in the below insight.
