  • Why is SOCIAL MEDIA a deterrent to DEEP WORK?

Why is SOCIAL MEDIA a deterrent to DEEP WORK?

    Daily writing prompt
What could you do less of?

If I could have done something better over the last year, it would be deep work. In this blogpost I will enlighten you how social media is a deterrent to deep work.

Cal Newport mentions at length about the importance of deep work in his iconic book.

This book does have a lot of relevance in the modern day economy wherein doing a work of art via deep work indeed matters.

Social media and other networking tools cause a lot of distraction and hence act as a major deterrent to doing deep work.

Hence my advise is to use social media as well as other networking tools a little judiciously in order to save you time to perform deep work.

    Stay away from distractions

If there is ONE THING I would like to change about myself it would be adopting an INFINITE MINDSET to play the INFINITE GAME of life.

Simon Sinek has mentioned that life as well as business is an infinite game in his book The Infinite Game.

Adopting an infinite mindset reduces anxiety, keeps us focused and helps us in leading fulfilling lives. The essence of this mindset is to focus on making ourselves a better version by the day without worrying about competition.

There are these FIVE PRINCIPLES needed to adopt an INFINITE MINDSET –

    1. Advance a Just CAUSE which acts as a GUIDING STAR for motivating myself.
    2. Constant endeavor to build trust at home and workplace wherein people feel psychologically safe in my company
    3. Respect , study and be prepared to learn from Worthy Rivals to keep playing the infinite game more effectively
    4. Avoid complacency & Prepare for Existential Flex which is run time disruption at a time things are going well. This helps me course correct as needed.
    5. Demonstrate the Courage to Lead

  • Make good DIET your DOCTOR

    Make good DIET your DOCTOR

Meat is a great source of protein and I absolutely love it. But again like other things, it has to be taken in right proportion. A good and balanced diet is nothing less than a good doctor.

I love Steve Job’s farewell speech wherein he mentioned DIET as one of the 6 doctors in our life. If you do not have a balanced diet be prepared to have medicine for diet is what he said.
